I was born in vihiga district in Kenya. Our family consists of my father, mother, one sister and four brothers, myself being the last son and also the last born in the family. Both my parents were and are still peasant farmers. Through hard-work, sacrifice and struggle they educated me up to the university level. Raising school fees for my education was not an easy thing. Currently I operate an 8-seater public service vehicle business along vihiga - kisumu route. My dream is to improve that vehicle so that it can do business better with less mechanical problems from time to time. Also with time, I desire to own more public service vehicles and have my own transport company.
Having been in this new line of business for around eight months now and doing well in it, I believe that with some financial boost to improve the vehicle to reduce mechanical challenges, I will do wonders.
My business involves transporting of passengers mainly from vihiga to kisumu and vice versa. I decided to start this business in October 2014. I decided to start this business to generate some income and also to serve my fellow Kenyans. The main challenge that I have been facing is that the vehicle is old and therefore keeps on developing mechanical challenges. My customers are the general public who need to travel from one point to the other.
My future goal is buy a newer vehicle that will have less mechanical challenges. I also desire to diversify my business in the future by owning cars for hire. In the long run, my dream is to have a fleet of vehicle offering me more income, serving more passengers, and also offering employment to more Kenyans thereby enabling them meet their family needs.
I am proud of the fact that I got into this new line of business recently and I am already doing relatively well in it in less than an year's period.
I will buy the remaining two wheels for my vehicle at a cost of 8,000. I will reduce cost of repairs of the two remaining wheels in terms of money and time. New wheels will make my vehicle be in good condition and attractive to customers. All this is expected to lead to Increased income. This in turn will better enable me support my family in terms of house rent payment, food and even paying school fees for my son.
