My name is David Kituku, I grew up in Makueni County in a family of 8 children. My father and mother were peasant farmers. It was a poor state of life. I live in Mwala market and hopes to expand and open a metal garage to accommodate my growing number of customers. I started as an assistant to another welding person before I started saving to purchase my own work equipments.
I do welding business and other metal works. I started working as an assistant to another friend of mine who was doing welding in a neighboring market before I thought of starting my own business. I started by saving some little cash every day to purchase a welding machine and gas cylinders. It took me more than a year to accumulate all that. Luckily then I was unmarried and did not have huge expenses. My biggest challenge is lack of capacity to handle my clients. I need a bigger gas cylinder and a better welding machine which can take me 2 weeks without refilling the gas because this gives me high costs of traveling to Machakos town to refill the gas cylinders. My customers are public service vehicles when they get some breakages or house constructors who need metallic support and connections. In a good month i make profits of upto $ 200 which i use to buy materials to expand my business and the rest caters for family needs. I want to set up my business on a permanent premises and avoid working outdoor in the sun. I like my work very much and I feed my family from the profits.
Given the loan together with my savings I would like to purchase some aluminum bars for welding purposes this will cost me around $ 180. This materials will give me an indication of the profits per day and enable me to plan better in future. This loan will come at the right time of the year and will support me to stabilize and serve my customers with more ease and comfort hence serve more customers.
