I initially worked in the NGO sector providing emergency medical aid to Somalia and Southern Sudan which was an eye opening chapter of my life on the fragility of life. I lost my job but did not lose hope by staying positive. I started a small business packaging coconut oil and honey with a small amount of capital. I've had a small amount of success at this venture and hope to raise money to purchase packaging materials and the product in bulk to as to enhance the profitability and sustainability of the business. I will also be buying some honey processing equipment.
I buy honey and coconut oil from small scale farmers and re-package these items in smaller units for sale to individuals and small specialist stores. With this loan, I will be able to buy large quantities in bulk of both the packaging material and raw material to sell at a higher profit. There is a growing demand for natural organic products as more people become health conscious and come to appreciate the benefits of raw honey and coconut oil. I reinvest majority of my profit and only retain a bare minimum to meet my personal needs. With increased profitability, I will be able to employ 2 sales people to make office and home visits to increase sales as well as invest in honey processing machinery.
