My name is Raymond muiruri karanja, resident of kiambu county ruiru constituency,,married and blessed with for children, two gals two boys, ,my family is my greatest motivation,,after graduation I searched for employment but found very few opportunities, along the way I also experienced a serious leg injury that left me with a long term physical challenge, despite the setbacks refused to loose hope on my dreams,i chose to become and entrepreneur and started a small poultry business,

I started rearing chicken and selling eggs, and coz of hard work, determination and continuous learning,I established Raywar poultry, today we provide quality incubation and healthy day old chicks to poultry farmers,demand for our chicks continues to grow and my goal is to expand the business so can some more farmers,create employment and contribute to food security in Kenya,

I believe in honesty, hardwork and keep my commitments, support from zidisha community will help me expand Raywar poultry and positively impact many farmers families.

Raywar poultry is a hatchery that specializes in incubating fertile eggs and supplying healthy vaccinated day old chicks to poultry farmers across Kenya,we also provide to farmers with poultry farming advice and incubation services, to farmers who want there eggs there own eggs,,,

I started this business after realising that farmers struggle to find a realible source of chicks,,through hard work I have built a trusted business and demand has grown rapidly,we are currently recieving orders of approximately 13000 chicks weekly,but our current capacity incubator is 3168 chicks,it's not enough to meet this demand,as a result clients have to wait for long or purchase elsewhere,

The business generates income from the sale of day old chicks ,and incubation services,and other poultry products,,most of the profits are reinvested into purchasing fertile eggs , vaccine, equipment and improvements of the hatchery,while the remaining helps back in my family daily needs and pays for children education,

My goal is to expand Raywar poultry by purchasing additional incubators a larger automated chick vaccination machine and increasing production capacity,this will enable me to supply more farmers in good time and create more employment,

the loan will help in buying more chicks and food because of the high demand on meat and eggs.for the layers it takes more than six months to start laying but for broilers its only six weeks and it will be of importance to me because i wll be able to pay my loan in time and approprietly.chicken meat is on high demand because people are running away from red meat and it wil be of benefit to me in accomplishng my daily needs in a more simple way and able to feed,dress,pay rent and school my children.
