I was born in the western part of Kenya some 38 years back. I lost my mother at the age of 11 and lived in the hands of other relatives in our polygamous home.

Having spent most of my time schooling in the village and passing my exams, I could not make it to college.

I came to Nairobi where I have been looking for work. The casual work I get has not been able to make things any easier.

So I started an online work platform which remains the best thing that ever happened to me.

Since 2013, the little earnings I get has been used to purchase some items necessary for the work like modem, desktop, and a workspace.

On the other end, I have children in high school where I pay over $530 yearly. This has been a burden since the parttime job I have and the current state of my online work cannot manage the amount

Though work has been coming on the desktop I use, I need a good laptop and some equipment s and software's which will enable me to work and earn maximum to sustain my business even when on the move to my rural home.

I need at least the remaining $2800 to set up my online work lab.

Cybercafe & Online Writing

I currently have a cybercafé, which I have consistently improved from the initial phase which was online writing. My online business remains my primary source of income explicitly amidst the turbulent economic situations.

If I acquire the gadgets, this work done by various customers online has excellent potential with the connections I have built.

The current global setting puts the demand for online workers at its high with the shift to virtual workspaces.

In return better earnings. The catch is that lack of proper equipment stand between me and this goal.

Since September, I've made close to $180 which is bound to triple if I get the required materials.

My general expenses involve the internet cost $16 per month, other stationery and Miscellaneous fees $12, saving $30 the rest helps with my other family use.

The breakdown of the cost of the equipment:

$800 purchase of a laptop

$1500 acquisition of reliable online portal for business.

$200-transcription equipment and transcription software

$300 computer software

$200 internet and miscellaneous costs

past funding catered for $200

Remaining total-$2800

With the initial funding I received previously, I was able to get a faster and reliable modem, different from the one I had before. I can use this on my friend's laptop, or any desktop.

Please join hands with me. Regards, Chrisphine

In this phase of my business, I look for expansion. I'm looking at 1 more computer and its components and them setting up an mpesa shop since I have a space. This project i hoped to setup in January but lack of funds has impeded it. Thank you.
