My names are Aziza Andera a first born girl in a family of seven girls, I have one child now in early childhood school. I come from western kenya near the border town of uganda. Generally in my community girls rarely make it to high school, they are married off early often while still children and thus lead a very poor unsatisfying life. I was lucky that my dad chose to have us educated although from his meagre income from subsistence farming. Am a trained teacher though I haven't received government placement and am now working as an Mpesa attendant with an agency. I grew up a very determined girl, taking challenges head on since my mom lives with a disability and i had to step in to assist when my dad passed on in 2021 covid time. I want to be a role model to my siblings and other girls in my village that women can always break off tough belittling culture and invest and lead a good life even educating their children. An empowered girl and woman accessing opportunities means a developing society.

I conceived my business idea when my mpesa clients kept asking me where they can buy soft drinks and snacks. I then decided to provide the same by purchasing a fridge, sodas and snacks. The profits from this will be used to supplement my income in paying for my child's fee , supporting my mom and my siblings still in school.

I will use the funds to increase my current stock of soft drinks and snacks which I sell to the clients. This will improve my stock flow and profits. The income from this will help supplement my household needs budget especially paying my sons school fees. I have also been supporting my mom who lives with a disability as well as my siblings and an improved income flow means improved less disrupted support to them. As for my community, I being among the first to access this type of credit support will serve to popularise zidisha to them. This is likely to see more people from locality especially girls and women realise their financial dreams and independence.
