I was born in a small, remote village called Ugenya, in the heart of Siaya, Nyanza Province of Kenya. As the first born in a family of six children, I experienced dire hardship, courtesy of being born in a humble background. I joined Hafumbre Primary School from 2008, where I graduated in 2014.

There after, I progressed to Humwend Secondary School, where I graduated in 2019. Sadly, it's during my journey as a high school student, that my father passed away. After graduating from high school, I had no luxury of joining the campus.

I got employed as a shop attendant, during which I developed deep interest to own my shop one day. Hungry for education, I left my village and joined NYS Engineering Institute in Nairobi City, in 2022; where l graduated with a Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

With limited employment opportunities, I had to find an alternative to earn a living and fend for my mum and siblings; and going back home wasn’t an option. With the skills I developed while working as a shop attendant, I believed I could manage my own business in the city now.

My mum had to sell the only two bulls left in our homestead; who were not just animals but our cherished partners in farming. This was a sacrifice, but a life changing point in my life.

I used the proceeds to settle down in the city and open a medium shop; which I filled with stock and started my entrepreneurial journey. As fate would have it, this venture grew with a supersonic speed, prompting me to move to a bigger space several months later; where I expanded my business to a mini-mart.

Fast forward, I have employed 2 people; one lady and a gentleman, who help me with running daily activities. I have a dream of opening other branches across the city, while also creating sources of income for other desperate, young unemployed young people in Nairobi.

Therfore, I implore everyone reading this to join me in this noble journey; for my success is only valuable when others succeed through my impact and that's my joy.

My business deals with general, common shop products, including foodstuffs. The funds will help me open another small shop in a different location, which I aim to expand to a minimart too. I chose this business because of its fast moving goods nature, with high profits especially in a highly populated city like Nairobi.

It's from these profits that I've been able to pay school fees in part for my siblings back in the village and sustain myself in the city.

This will be another historic moment in my life, a journey that will open many other doors for other young people. Thanks.

The funds will set me a step ahead towards opening a small new shop at a different location, which i aim to develop slowly until it becomes a thriving venture, just like my current mini martial was once a humble beginning

As it progresses, I trust my living standard, plus that of my family will tremendously change for the better, as I employ more people, giving them a source of income
