My names are John Kanyi.I grew up in the the Laikipia county formerly laikipia district in the rift valley, attended machunguru primary school in the local village from the year 1993 to 2000 when i sat for my KCPE exam. After that i was admitted in a private boys secondary school,Mary Mother of Grace boys high school still in the rift valley.I completed my secondary education in 2004 and was admitted at Kenyatta university to pursue a bachelors degree in education. After completing my degree i went into employment as a high school teacher. However this was not my ambition and i wanted to go into business.Getting capital to start a business was however the challenge and i had to settle for employment in order to raise some capital. After working for two years i moved form the capital to Naivasha as i was looking for better place to invest. It is in Naivasha that i managed to invest some of my savings in the boutique business. However it was abit challenging since i did not know anybody in the area. The region is a cosmopolitan with the maasais and kikuyus forming the large part of the population.I have two little children one being 3years and the other is less than one year. The elder one wants to become an engineer when he grows up.My hobby are reading as well as watching football
My type of business is a boutique where i sell mainly new as well as second hand clothes. In addition i sell ladies shoes.I have found that due to the location of the shop and by bringing the latest fashions in the market, the goods are always in demand. Also the population in the area is increasing thus increasing customer base.I chose this line of business as clothes and shoes are imperishable and the demand for clothing will always be there,. Typical costs include rent and utility bills such as electricity amounting to around ksh.10,000 per month.Revenues range between ksh.15,000 and ksh.20,000 per month.I use the profits to cater for family needs as well reinvesting in the business.
I will use the loan raised to increase my stock in the clothing store. The ksh.1000 will help me procure several second hand tops ranging from ksh.100 to ksh.150.This is important to increase the stock level so as to maintain my customers as well as attract new ones. This will also help me to bring in the latest fashion in the market to my shop. From this investment i expect my profits to increase by 5-10%.
