I am Hirano John Miyoba, a 42 year old male. Born in Livingstone, but currently living in Mazabuka Zambia. My childhood was very challenging. Especially when my father took a one year unpaid leave. I had to wake up too early and prepare to sell or deliver either poultry, tomatoes, rice, potatoes, bananas etc to the market and to customers before going to school every morning. After school ( If I had gone), I had to go straight to the market and sell. I did this mostly full time in the holidays, weekends and times when I could not be allowed to go to school. No time to play or make friends. I was always tired and miserable. I was the beast of burden for the family.
Despite the fatigue and misery, I continued studying hard, especially at midnight and before dawn. I overcame this hardship going to a boarding school. My father strove to enable me to attend.
I am a Christian by religion, and it is from this background that I look forward to my businesses doing so well that I would be able to open an orphanage and school for not only orphans, but vulnerable children as well. Plus empowering the youths with skills and employment when resources allow.
I started my business through my interest in Information and Communication Technology. Selling electronic gadgets like Memory Cards, Flash drives, computer components etc, To satisfy the high demand for such items. It just looks like a dream, but with major funding, it could be a Computer College
I wish I could have access to more than K1 Million so that I could embark on satisfying the desperate need for accomodation in this fast growing town. The largest industry , Zambia Sugar PlC, despite offering more than 50% of the direct private employment and another 10% through contractors, does not manage offering accomodation to the remaining 60 % of its workers. Public service does not offer accomodation, hence the dire shortage, yet serious opportunity for investment in real estate in the town of Mazabuka.
Mazabuka reflects Zambia's aspiration to be a peace-loving nation. The land is very fertile. Farming and fishing are common practices. A bit of mining also is done.
I am interested in sharing all kinds of helpful knowledge. With this, its been easy to reach out to the youths through mentorships sessions and sports in schools. I am national trophy winning Rugby Coach, basketball too is my passion.
My children mostly want to be doctors, journalists and architecture engineers when they grow up.
I also engage in voluntary house tutoring, story writing, botany and gardening in my spare time. Weekly, I lead a religious service in my community.
I started my business through my interest in Information and Communication Technology. My electronic business satisfies the high demands need for storage devices and computer repairing services for most locals. Most schools do not have technical staff, hence the heavy reliance on busines like mine. For those that may do their own printing, most of them rely on us for designing certain projects.
I use my laptop as an internet desk for customers that wish to browse the internet. My stratergy to start really early and knock off late works well with most of my regular customers. My business is just mainly gadgets and computer parts for now, but I want it to be a computer college one day.
My income will help me pay back the loan especially that I am almost signing a money Transaction Agent Services.
My typical costs are space rentals, inclusive of power and water bills. This is K150. Resources would cost less than K500 on average for a month. My personal expenditures are less than K1,200 per month while revenues could soar up to K2,356 in an average month.
My children's upkeep and school are not so demanding since they are mostly in public school. And I stay in a family house. Therefore is easier for me to spend one-third or half of my net profit to invest in an upgrade or maintenance scheme.
My business has typically been a stationery and small Cybercafe. However, with the coming of Vodafone on the Internet Subscription Provider market in Zambia, I have opted to expand my business to accommodate at least a huge number of my internet customers who would normally have to leave me with an internet task, wait for longer times or decide to leave due to limited equipment in my business when other cafes have closed shop.
I wish to subscribe to this cheaper ISP and buy moderately state of the art but cheaper monitors (3 - $25 each), System units (5 - $75),keyboards (4 - $50), network booster (1 - $200) , switches ($ 30), fans (2- $20),Refridgerator (water and refreshments - Coca Cola businesses come free ) and finally hire my intern and other hands. A gaming system will be installed ( 1 Xbox kit - 2 Playstation kits). And to upgrade my license to be able to carry out my other small businesses under one 'bigger' roof ($50).
My profit turn out will be a net profit of approximately K 6,734 per month in the first trimester. However, this will increase after advertising, establishment of short courses/lessons and opening of the game center. Bringing my gross net to K12,345 in the second trimester.
Upgrade to mega cybercafe
