My name is Amanda Rachida Wendpouire Ouedraogo, I'm 21 years old and am the twin of my brother Amand Rachid. I am a student at the Institute of Burkinabe Art and Crafts (IBAM) within the University of Ouagadougou, studying accounting. I belong to a family of five persons, my father, mother, two brothers and myself. In the past, I studied culinary art at a religious school, which I have put to use already within my family. Also, I have been baking cakes which I sell on campus, to make a little profit and help my parents. I am also able to pay my own parking and for trips out to restaurants myself. With Zidisha I hope to become more independent. Thank-you to Zidisha.
Up until now I have baked chocolate cakes (salted and sugared) that I offer for sale to my classmates on campus. Now, with financing from Zidisha, I will not only increase the amount of flour and the size of my cakes, but also offer other varieties of cake. With the help of my mother, I plan to sell my cakes in food stores, boutiques and food kiosks. This will allow me to make more profit and to use my knowledge of accounting. The unemployment rate is high and developing a revenue-generating business is one of the solutions to remedy this problem.
With this loan, I plan to buy the following raw materials: flour at 25,000 FCFA ($50 USD), gas at 5,000 FCFA ($10 USD), complementary molds to increase production capacity at 2,500 FCFA ($5 USD), oil at 5,000 FCFA ($10 USD), sugar at 5,000 FCFA ($10 USD). The rest of the money will be used to buy yeast, vanilla sugar, chocolate and raisins to decorate my cakes, and the rest for other ingredients. I thank all of the lenders for having confidence in me the last time. I did not merit this confidence, but I plan to redeem myself.
