My name is Mouhammadoul Mansour Ndoye, and I live in Dakar in the Assainies district with my wife, my parents, my brothers and my sisters. After I completed my high school degree, I was accepted to the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar in the Department of Geography. However, one of my cousins convinced me to open a small bookstore because our neighborhood did not have any, and to purchase books it is necessary to leave our neighborhood or go into town. This is an area that I find interesting because the customers are present, that which allows me to diversify my products. To be on the same wavelength with everyone, I sell old and new books so that every person can find what they want. My customers are usually in the neighborhood and I try to offer everything that they need. In addition to books, I started selling cell phones and accessories, which is why when Mr. Sall told me about Zidisha, I didn't hesitate to apply because I think it is the opportunity to achieve my goals.
My principal business is selling books. A cousin talked to me about the project, and with the scholarship that I got for the university, I go to the biggest bookstores in the city to buy items at wholesale and resell them to my customers. This is an interesting business because there is a good demand, and I am the only bookseller in my neighborhood, I don't yet have any competition. However, I prepare myself for it and I try to retain my customers and sell them affordable products for everyone and for all ages. With the profits from book sales, I also buy cell phones and their accessories and resell them. This is interesting because I find the right amount there and people are starting to know me in this sector. I receive requests and I do everything to fulfill them. This sector interests me a lot because in spite of the competition, every seller finds their customers, and in order to invest in cell phones I need loans from Zidisha. These funds will allow me to increase my workload and achieve my goal of becoming a great businessman.
Presently, my main business is selling books, and I have to say that it is really interesting. I have loyal customers who only buy from me, because along with good quality my books are affordable. My competition doesn't even touch me in that respect. However, I would like to diversify this business by selling mobile phones and accessories. This is an area that I just discovered, and with the profits from my book sales, I buy phones and resell them. I am starting also to have customers in this sector, and sincerely wish to invest here. The loan from Zidisha will permit me to buy more phones for my customers because I want to establish myself in a place where my clients can find me.
