After over two decades of working as a Communications Specialist I am now a wellness practitioner. I transitioned into this field after traumatic experiences affected my mental as well as physical health.

I grew up in Nairobi, Kenya where I currently live. My education background is in Journalism with a BA in the same. I have been passionate about people empowerment and community development since an early age and naturally chose to work in communications for local as well as international charity organisations including Save the children, Nature Seychelles, Mama na Dada Africa to name a few.

Following my health challenges, I decided to quit communications altogether, take a sabbatical and focus on my mental and physical wellness through healthy eating, yoga and meditation. I then went on to start a wellness project through which I hope to reach those facing mental and physical challenges as I did, more so in this increasingly volatile global society.

My business is called Well Well Well (@wellwellwell on Instagram). The focus of my business is improving mental and physical wellbeing. The approach, to create a holistic journey for clients touching on the body, mind and soul.

I am a self-taught yogi and have been practicing for thirty years now. For the past three years, I have been teaching yoga to a select group of individuals who are familiar with my story. I would like to expand my capability such that my sessions reach more people. Additionally, there are many people who need such services but are hindered by economic constraints and I would like to create a process of selection that enables them to take part. I have also since started an organic demonstration garden, where clients can learn and be motivated either to do the same or opt for healthier food sources.

I now hope to launch a podcast where I can host conversations with audiences who are either affected or simply interested in promoting wellness. I will also have guests on the program such as medical practitioners, nutritionists, fitness experts and other professionals from other relevant industries. I have already registered the podcast but not yet started broadcasting. I also launched an instagram page to grow my audience - the handle is @wellwellwell.ke

I have so far planted traditional vegetables and started a garden dedicated to herbs, all organic. I now hope to expand my garden to include fruit trees including avocado, papaya, mangoes and lime; I will also be applying to join the Kenya Organic Network. In the new year I hope to continue to offer free yoga sessions to those in need of mental wellbeing support.
