Well, my name is Judy Jepkoech kimaru, a very proud member of the Kalenjin tribe coming from Kenya. I learnt about Zidisha from my own sister who has benefited from and been a loyal member of this community. It has really helped her with her grocery business and therefore I look forward to being a member as well. We had a difficult childhood growing up with a single mother but it was a blessing in disguise because it taught us how to survive and be independent. I spent my early teens going to school and working as well to help my mother find funds for school fees and our basic necessities. That is how Iearnt business tactics early early and now as a young adult and mother of one, I run a successful poultry business that takes care of my own family. Something unique about our land is our fermented milk known as mursik. In our culture we take it on a daily basis. It is very healthy. My favorite hobby is planting trees like lemon trees and avocado trees among others.

I have a poultry farm in my backyard. I have hens, ducks, guinea fowls, turkeys and geese. I provide goods like eggs on both wholesale and retail market and white meat in my butchery. I also sell live chickens and guniea fowls among others. My services are useful because people have to eat and white meat is healthy. People also buy my animals for breeding in order to start their own farms. They are in demand because protein is important in our everyday lives for a balanced diet and of course the products are delicious! I would use funds from Zidisha to expand my animals' lair for them to have more space in order to breed better. I will also add their feeding troughs and buy heaters for the chicks because they need warmth to survive. I make about 45000ksh every week and my take home after costs is around 32000kes every week. I use the profits to provide our daily needs and save for school fees because soon my son will begin school.

I will build a bigger lair for my poultry and buy heaters to take care of the chicks and also more feeds so that they may lay more eggs and bring better produce. This is turn will ensure me to take care of my family needs and the community's demands.
