I am a 62 year old with lung disease so I do not work and live on benefits.
I have always been an atheist as the idea of an omnipotent deity treating us as his/hers/its pets is ludicrous. I have a moral code that compels me to help others without suffering overly myself. I do not believe in feeding the poor, however I cannot allow others to go hungry while I am fed. I believe we should help the poor rise above poverty and be sufficient unto themselves. People cannot feel pride in themselves if they live only on charity. Zidisha is a wonderful way to put my beliefs into action.
