I was born 26 years ago in Kiambu County near the capital city of Kenya – Nairobi. This is an agriculturally rich area famed for its horticultural produce. I was raised up in a normal family of six where I am the first born.
I later joined school where I went up to secondary school. I then decided to join my parents in doing farming and that is what I do to date. I am a social person with strong values imparted on me by my parents and my church.
I am a committed practicing Christian and I am involved in many church activities such as visiting and helping orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
I call myself a small scale farmer with a bias in horticulture production. I grow crops such as cucumber, melons, pepper, strawberries etc. I decided to do this due to a huge market for this products in Nairobi and its environs.
I do my farming in a ½ acre piece of land but I have plans to expand this in near future. I intend to venture in other areas like fish and dairy farming in near future and subject to availability of sufficient capital.
My business is quite profitable and I make about $2800 per year. This is what sustains me and a little goes to supporting my extended family.
If funded to the tune of $100, I will use the money to buy certified and improved seeds for various crops like tomatoes, kales and melons. I will be able to get this from a research institute which is not very far from where I live. I will later buy fertilizer after transplanting the seedlings for more productivity.
This will go a long way in optimizing my production which has been my desire for a long time.
Thank you.
