About Me

I am 25 years old, single mother of one handsome boy. I am a self employed entreprenuer, working in the Masai artifacts field. I make and sell a myriad of beaded maasai products and african cultural products including, but not limited to earrings, head gears, neck pieces, maasai sandals, maasai shukas to mention but a few. I would wish to increase and expand my business, which, with the help of a friend who introduced me to zidisha, we came up with a website to display the products and reach a wide target market.

My Business

My source of income is soley from making and selling maasai beaded products, including eaarrings, necklaces, beaded bracelets etc. It is also from this business that i have managed to educate my son and put food on the table, hence it is self-sustaining in and by itself. I have been in this business for Five years now, hence i know the intricacies and the ins and outs that come with maasai beadwork. Every day of the week we display our products in different parts of Nairobi county. For instance, on Tuesdays we are at the globe roundabout, on Wednesday we are at Capital Centre, on Thursday we are Karen shopping Centre, Friday we are at Sarit Centre, Sartuday and Sunday we are at high court grounds.

Loan Proposal

With this loan, I will divide it into two. I will be able to buy more beads and materials for making beadwork such as soles for the maasai sandals, threads, leather for the maasai belts etc. In addition I will also be able to sponsor most of my signature products on facebook. I already have an existing facebook page which receives hundreds of views daily, and at least i get a call daily for a product. My online shop on facebook i do deliveries, hence are able to charge slightly higher on the days i am not able to go display on the physical maasai market. I take this opportunity to thank the Zidisha fraternity for the opportunity to fund people like me!
