About Me

Am 43 years of age married to Njuguna Gitau who is a self employed mostly working in farm work production .am also blessed with five children and one of them is only the school undergoing at secondary school in form three while the rest are out of school dependent on themselves leaving the burden and more concentration to the one in form three.Am a catholic by faith fellowship at Catholic Church Bahati.Am an employee with Color crop and also a farmer whereby i grow maize for home consumption and commercial i also grows tomatoes for commercial mostly when the maize harvest has been done.This production i do them in one acre leaving the other for the compound ,house,chicken and a cow and a small number of sheep.

A side from the earnings as an employee i also farm for commercial with an acre preparation amounting to 4000 on tilling the land,2000 on seeds,3000 DAP fertilizer,2000CAN fertilizer and labor in time of plantation which needs eight people i use atleast 2000 when it comes to weeding which it is done twice to its full mature the total cost for the two times is 5000.When it comes to harvest time i have been using 2500,harvest to transport to the gallery when it comes to tomatoes the cost of land preparation goes at 4000 DAP 3000,CAN fertilizer 2000 the cost for plantation require ten people with each pocketing 250 bringing to a total of 2500 this farming we have been doing it in hand to hand with my husband of whom we having been working as a team to see the family flourish and being strong financially.When the market goes well i manage to sell an crate of tomatoes at a cost of 3000,while on maize a bag sells at 2300 per bag.An acre can produce 60 bags if well looked while an acre of tomatoes until its end of harvest can bring a total of 120 crates.
