About Me

My name is shadrach Mutiso Kimanthi born and raised in a rural village of Kenya called Mbitini. I am born in a family of two, me and my elder brother. I went to a day primary school, I joined a good county school known as Kabaa High school after that where I qualified to attend the university as a government sponsored student. There I undertook a course in Bsc, strategic management which I completed last year July.

I have gained financial literacy and skills through my work experience, first at National bank of Kenya as an intern and later after completion of campus I have worked with Faulu Kenya micro finance bank as a relationship officer in SME lending for five months.

I resigned from my first job after campus so that I could follow my dream: being self-employed and a job creator rather than a job seeker.

I love socializing with people and sharing ideas as well as giving motivational talks. While at campus I was a member of SIFE (students in free enterprise) where we would talk with the surrounding business community and give them ideas to improve their businesses. My life's dream is to create a strong business brand in the field of print and advertising as well as training.

My Business

I started my business during my first year at the university in 2009 with savings I made from a contract to conduct national census as an enumerator. I used this money to buy one second hand printer and a computer and used them to help students print their assignments at a fee.

From this venture I saved some more income and during the break I had accumulated enough and decided to open a printing shop in our local town. My business was set to go with one computer and a printer and out of good will combined with my skills in computer applications and designs I got a lot of clients. I have run my business with the help of one employee since then and it has grown from one computer to 10 computers, four printers and a photocopier. My work consists mainly of designs, printing, internet services, photocopy and other supporting services such as computer repairs. We also offer computer classes in basic computer applications.

My monthly income is $517 (from printing shop and students fee), my monthly expenses such as rent, electricity, commuter, wages, telephone and others are $275, leaving me a net profit after expenses of $517-$275 = $242

This amount will help me add more computers for training..

Loan Proposal

This loan amount i intent to use it to place a printing outlet next to my computer college just near the entry. this will be of advantage to me me because the person operating the outlet will in the same time act as the receptionist. without the computer he or she will just be siting idle for most of the day and yet they are being paid. this will generate an additional income to my business and cater for the salary of the receptionist.

this amount will buy a second hand desktop computer at $126.5
i will use my savings to buy a 3 in one hp printer at $230

I Would like to adjust my installment amount because its a low season for my business. As I had indicated we have started registering students for training of computer lessons and soon I will even require to adjust the amount upwards. Am making arrangements to settle the amount which is in arrears.
