About Me

I am a single mother aged 32 years. I am the sole bread winner of my family of one son who in High school - form two . I have an O level education background .
Due to lack of school fees I could not proceed in college. I have been in employment as a hotel waiter and cook for over nine years years in two different companies. During this period I experienced numerous problem both financially and socially. This was because the salary was small and could not make me meet the needs of my family and even my own needs. This prompted me to think of starting a small business of which we are joint with my elder brother who is a teacher by profession but still the same business has its own economic and social challenges.
I come from Western Kenya a place called Butere but currently I live and work in Eldoret Town .I have been in these town for the last eleven year.

My Business

Besides employment I have been operating a posho mill for the last five years. We are in parnership in that business with my elder brother who is a teacher. We had to start the business as aprtnership because the capital was big for us one to afford to raise alone as such. I started these type of business because of ever increasing demand of maize flour ,keeping in mind that Ugali is the staple food for most of the people in kenya and the demand is so high.I also sell beans, sorghum, millet green grams rice and many others. Eldoret has a very high population which gives me a very effective demand. I chose the products due to its great availability and demand you can not miss to make a sale . Competition is minimal and the existing competitors I have an advantage over them, I buy my cereals during harvesting when the price is very low, dry them properly to maintain high quality and treat them with pesticides to avoid piercing by weevils. I sell my products at a very friendly price which keeps on attracting more and more customers. My business does not face any risks because these products are the staple food for the whole community.
My monthly cost of running the business is US Dollars 350 while average Gross profit before the expenses is usually approximately US Dollars 400
The following is how I normally use profits from the business :-
10% I give tithe to the church
70% Up keep i.e food and rent
5% Savings
15% I support my aged mother and two siblings

Loan Proposal

Thanks you lenders for giving me second opportunity to get the credit from you.

Given funding I will use my loan wisely to increase stock of Maize since currently the price has dropped due to it being the harvest season in western Kenya.I intend to use Us dollars 290 to stock 11 bags and sell them .I will repay my loan from salary, sales from business and profits that I make from posho mill. Otherwise thank you for your wise consideration
