About Me

My name is mercy talam.I come from a family of 10.I am the second born.I come from a christian familyI live in eldoret ,cheplasgei..I went to a local primary school in eldoret called kipkabus downs after which i joined drys girls secondary school.I asses welll and was admitted to maseno university.

I must say that i come from a family that is not well off.My father is a peasant farmer while my mother is a house wife.Back in campus,my parents were not in a position to pay my school fees so i had to look for a part time job to cater for my fees, accomodation and upkeep,i had a part time job and i saved after which i opened up a a boutique and m pesa.I always travel to nairobi to purchase maasai sandals for my boutique and also to get some mitumba clothes.I trave to uganda to buy kitengee and new clothes for my bussiness. My Bussines is two years old now and has realy grown.
I have had several financial challenges since i would like to expand my bussiness.
I would like to borrow the zidisha loan to increase the stock and move my bussiness to the next level.
With my bussiness i am able to pay school fees for my two siblings, pay rent and upkeep and also have some savings after all the expenses have been deducted.

My Business

I must say ythat i am greatfull for the two loans that i have been awarded by zidisha in the past.I was able to pay them efficiently and on time and also my bussiness has grown tremendously. My bussiness is m pesa and a boutique .It is situated in maseno university nyawita centre

The bussiness has existed for two years .Most of my customers are students who buy new trends of clothes.

On my m pesa i make a profit of USD 100 in a month after deducting expenses.

On the side of the boutique i make an average profit of USD 50 every month after deducting travel expenses and all the other expenses .I have always had an ambition to increase my stock and the float in my m pesa toin order to take my bussiness to the next level.I want to increase my stock and become a supplier of kitenge in kisumu town and i believe through zidisha it can take me there.

I am really greatfull for the loan awarded earlier which i was able to pay successfully.I strongly believe that if given the loan i can be able to increase my stock and the float of my m pesa.
I am now requesting my third loan which i want to purchase a new m pesa line and put some float on it so that it can start operating in two weeks time when students resume from holiday.I have already paid rent for the premise and branded as per safaricom regulations

Loan Proposal

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the hand you extended to me in my previous loan The $50 I received I used to purchase 10 pairs of ladies shoes at a cost of $3 dollars each and sold at $5. i was able to pay successfully without any problem. My payment rate was 100 percent.
The small but humble profits I made I used to re-invest in the business and also settle a few bills in the business. The other cosmetics are also doing well especially the weaves which have a great turnover. The greatest challenge I face right now is the size of the shop am operating in. It is quite small and displaying items in the shop is quite challenging. It always look congested. With this new loan which I greatly believe you will support me, I plan to move to a new premise next to where am operating. The new shop is a bit bigger and more spacious. I won’t suffer the risk of losing my clients since I can still see them come. I have already paid a downpayment of $50 and still need to pay another $50 before moving in. In Kenya you have to pay the deposit + rent before moving into a premise. I plan to divide this shop into 2 parts. To display cosmetics on one side and ladies and children shoes on the other side.
This is how I intend to use the loan: Purchase 30 pairs of ladies shoes @ $3 each = $90 Re sell @ $5each
Use $50 to increase stocks on lotions, weaves, creams, cutex, earings necklaces bangles which I purchase in downtown Nairobi at fair prices, later re sell in my shop at a profit.
I intend to use $10 to complete paying for the new premise so as to move in. I will use $5 on transportation and other miscellenous expenses related to the business
I am really greatfull for the loan awarded earlier which i was able to pay successfully.I strongly believe that if given the loan i can be able to increase my stock and the float of my m pesa andpromise never to disappoint.

Hi I managed to get in touch with Mercy Talam, she told me her business is not doing well, and since she rescheduled her loan it has been into arrears of 9,500 KES.she then had to pay this full amount before she can reschedule her a loan. This is per the software configuration on the Zidisha platform.
on lengthy talk with her she promised to get some funds from other sources and clear the outstanding arrears

Thank you for the update Kenn. I see she just made a small payment, which is great. Please encourage her to keep in communication here and make payment when possible. A small payment, like the one yesterday, is much better than nothing and not hearing anything. Thank you.
