Am Eric,a young enterprenuer from the Eastern region of kenya,Meru.In my family we were born in four,two sons and two daughters.Am the firstborn and the other three are students.Two daughters are in highschool and a boy is in class eight.Am an iligitimate child,my mum has gathered her effort to support our education system.I graduated last year on December from University and i managed to support my mum in supporting the education of my younger brother as mum is struggling to get in touch with education system of the two sisters.Upto to now they often depend on me interms of food.And i hope we shall move on well despite covid 19 epidemic.
While i was in university,i could see and even experience other colleague students struggling in cooking sector.Some used charcoal of which is expensive and consuming.From the experience i managed to borrow some capital from my friend to start a business of selling gas cookers and refueling gas cylinders.From where the students hostels is located,i was a far distance to go and refuel or purchase a gas cylinder.So i started selling gas cylinder and refueling them from the shop i rented near the university gate.Now its been a year and am growing on well since i rented a better and bigger shop from around.Students gave me support and i paid the capital i borrowed of $200 within four months.I started with 4,six kg cylinders and two stands.And for now it has moved a step forwad having 14 six kg cylinders,
7 fourteen kg cylinders,
Several gas cylinder stands and
several gas burners.
Each 6 kg gas cylinder costs $8 when refueling and $45 when buying, stand included.
Each 14 kg gas cylinder costs $21 when refueling and $75 when buying.
A stand costs $4.0 and a burner cost $1.5 and best quality $4.0
I wish to buy more cylinders this time.
From the experience of some previous months,some of my customers keeps requesting Jikokoa which is a modern cooking platform.It consumes little charcoal which is cheap.It mostly preferrably to some people who are not in hurry,hence applied in cooking hard foods.
It costs $35;
I will therefore need to buy;
1.Three jikokoas@$35
2.Five metre gaspipe@20
This will enable me;
1.Reach the customers demands.
2.Make more profit hence make on time repayments.
3.Employ an assistant.
As usual,there is no more lockdown in my country,and actually i operates for many hours inorder to meet my target.This allows me to make and repay on time.
