About Me

I am Susan Murimi a third year in Chuka University taking Animal production. I am a dedicated entrepreneur and I want to enable myself and not rely on being employed considering I am taking a practical course. I am an ambitious young lady to face life with enthusiasm. I understand one must make life better by working hard. I strive to make my life better and I believe education is an empowerment. I want to integrate my education with enterpreuniship and make life better not only to me but to my friends and neighbours. I am engaged in farming at the moment. I am rearing 50 chickens worth 15000 Kenya shillings. The number has risen from my initial investment of 20 chickens. I intend to raise the number of chicken to 200 and add other types of livestock like dairy goats and even dairy cows with time.

My Business

I have been rearing chicken since 2011 just before I joined University. The project is able to generate $41 weekly. I use the available materials to feed them in order to maximise on the profits. I use remains from the posho mills and fingerlings to feed my chicken. I use around $4 to vaccinate the chicken. This way am able to save $150 in a month. This venture is interesting considering I started it as a hobby. Now besides serving as a source of income for my upkeep and I am now a role model to my peers. I am a living example that we do not have to wait for government intervention.

Loan Proposal

I am an enterprising young lady currently venturing in poultry. My current poultry farm is worth $175. I intend to add more chicken my current number of chicken. I intend to buy 100 day old chicks at $117. I will use the rest of the money from the loan to transport and feed the chicks . The expenses for rearing the chicks will roughly amount to $8 in a month mainly from medication and vaccination of the chicks. The loan will help my business and help me reap benefits from maximised profits. It will also help me continue to offer employment to my neighbour who takes care of my chicken when am in campus.
