About Me

In my family there are 8 children. I am fifth born in my family. My parents are both alive and they work as farmers in the village. I started schooling when I was at the age of three years. Educating girl child is difficult in my culture but fortunately I did my primary school and secondary school. After secondary school I joined college for higher diploma certificate in Information Technology.

I was in town and in a sudden I saw a poster of one supermarket advertising for a job vacancy. The job was only available till that afternoon of the day. I had not applied for it nor did I prepare to attend. I was at that time bankrupt for money and I needed job for a start up business. I decided to go for the job, I entered the office and one lady asked if I was coming running because I was breathing a lot and sweating. I tried to control myself but they gave me some few minutes to take fresh air outside. I went to a nearby restaurant and drank water to cool down my temperatures and told myself I was going to do it. Miraculously I was among the two men and two ladies who were offered a job. I learnt that inculcating the right attitude and focus can yield success in life.

I came to start my business when I realised that in my nearby college, there was no one to do the printing and photocopying for the students. In my working period I saved some money which I bought a photocopier machine. This brings me money now but I need a bigger photocopier machine.

In the culture that I come from, boys undergo initiation at the age of eight years but when they go beyond eight years without circumcision they wait until when they are twelve or fourteen years. Until this date boys who are beyond eight years of age are forced to undergo hard rituals for them to be considered adult.

My Business

In my business I do offer services such as printing and photocopy to college students. I buy photocopy papers and print school work for students and photocopy. Sometimes students bring a book of 300 pages for photocopy and this brings me a lot of income.

The business is on demand because students cannot do without printing and photocopies of school material. They are asked by their lecturers to print assignments and photocopy classwork on several occasions. The reason why I chose this business is because printing and photocopy work is very inevitable in the school environment of which I am the lucky one to own such a business in the college environs.

My monthly expenses of buying photocopy papers and ink for the photocopier machines is approximately $55, from this I accrue money of approximately $90. This brings me a revenue of $35. But once I improve on my photocopier machine to photocopy clear pages then I will make double income. I use this income for paying rent, food and transport.

Loan Proposal

I will use the money that I will receive from you to buy 10 reams of photocopy papers. This will cost me $30. I will also buy 4 colors of ink for my photocopy machine and this will cost me $20. I will use these materials purposely for photocopies that I will charge the students. On daily basis I will make a profit of $2, and at the end of the month I will make a revenue of $60.

This brings abundance of benefits. I will use my daily income to pay for my weekly loan repayment. I will use the remaining amount to reinvest in the business and also cater for my transport, food and other expenses.

My customers will benefit from the business because I will be in a position now to cater for their services with consistency and enough stock to meet their services. thus they will do any amount of photocopies.
