My name is Dennis Kipkurui, a third born in a family of 6. I have a single mother who has raised us since childhood and I want to grow my business so that I can repay her for the good she did to me as his son.
Currently I am from Eldoret town.
I went to Moi Primary School Kabarak in Nakuru and later joined Moi Secondary School in Nakuru too. Then I completed my University in Mount Kenya University. For the past three years I worked as a cyber owner and attendant specializing in computer programming, software and repairs.
I have a Diploma in IT, I have a business (Cyber cafe) in which money generated goes to my welfare and paying my school fess.
I am in the Business of Cyber Cafe'/internet services, printing and photocopy services also the business transacting money through m-pesa.The business is under one roof situated at a campus(MKU) Eldoret, which provides ready market for my stock and security of m-pesa.The business is viable since it is all year round and I have sufficient clients, the business is also located in a busy market centre.
In Summary:
There are :
26 Working days: and below are:
1. FIXED EXPENSES:
-Rent: 5,500
-Electricity: 3,000
-Internet: 5,000
Total: 13,500/=
2. Calculating My Income:
(a) Computer Usage
Charge per hour: Kshs 50/=
Hours per day: 10 Hours
Days per month : 26
Percentage in occupancy: 25%
i.e 3 Computers, 25% Occupancy, Kshs. 50/= Per Hour, 10 Hours Per Day, 26 Days Per month ( 6 days a week)
3 x 0.25 x 50 x 10 x 26 = 9,750/=
Total Computer Usage: Kshs. 9,750/=
(b) Printing
Formula: (Amount used per day x cost of service x days open per month)
i.e 30 Pages a day x Kshs. 5 per page x 26 days open per month.
30 x 5 x 26 = 3,900/=
Total Printing: Kshs. 3,900/=
(c) Scanning
Formula: (Total scanned per day x cost of service x days open per month)
i.e 5 Pages a day x Kshs. 20 per page x 26 days open per month.
5 x 20 x 26 = 2,600/=
Total Scanning: Kshs. 2,600/=
(d) Other Sources of Revenue
KRA PIN:
Atleast Ksh. 1000 a month.
Kshs. 1000/=
TOTAL SUMMARY:
Computers Kshs. 9,750/=

A Story about Me
My name is Dennis I was born in 1989 in Nakuru. I was a happy and healthy child. Pampered and loved by my parents. I am the 4th born in the family of 6. Most of my childhood, I grew up thinking that everything was about me. I was a bully; I stepped on those who were weaker than me. The other children were afraid of me, I just loved the power.
When I was 12 years old, my world was turned upside down. My dad died whom I had never seen but heard of him, he lost his life in an clear circumstances. Then everything went downhill. I was forced to live with my mother and brothers in our mother’s house.
In school I was totally impossible, I never did my homework. And didn’t listen to what the teacher said. I found it hard to concentrate. The teachers hated me and I didn’t have any friends at all. It's not because, I didn’t want to have some people around me. I just had a hard time trusting others and express my feelings.
I didn’t get a good education when in high school. After my fourth form, I went to Eldoret and I got a job at a Cyber café in town, and saved money for a small business someday. While working, I had to attend part time classes in a college to study things in computer, I had to depend on the government funds, reason for for working and attending classes is because I wanted to depend on my own.
Generally in my life, I had a feeling that my family didn’t really care about me. I was a burden. I became more and more isolated; I spent most of my time alone, above all I had confidence in myself.
Just the other year I sat down and looked back at my life and had no idea what useful things I did in life. You know what, I had to pray to God for guidance and to open my mind and with the little savings I made, I did buy two computers, a printer and a photocopier, thank God this is what has been feeding me,
As of now, I want to expand my business and return favours to my mum for taking care of me during my childhood and with Zidisha , I know my business will come and prosper so I can give back to the community through my service to all in the field of computing.
In conclusion , what I have learnt in my life is to Make every day count. To Appreciate every moment and to take from those moments everything that I possibly can for I may never be able to experience it again. I Talk to people that I have never talked to before, and listen to what they have to say…i.e the Zidisha Team.
Life has challenges, I acknowledge that, because the challenges and changes will only help me to find the goals that I know are meant to come true for me.
Zidisha Team With all Lenders!!!
