I am young single mother of one girl. I am yet to graduate with Bachelors degree in Gender and development Studies in June this year. I live with my parents in Embu County in Kenya. Driven by the desire to provide for my daughter independently, i acquired a skill of making mats by hand which i have been selling to cater my needs as well as those of my daughter who is almost turning two years old.
I need a loan to advertise and brand my steadily growing business. Branding and advertising myself and my business will help my clients find me more easily as well as give me and adge over my competitors. The mats i make are better than those found in malls and supermarkets as I custom make the mats to suit the needs of the different clients. The mats are on demand as people want to have mats that are unique to their preferences and that is exactly what I offer. My main challenge is inadequate stock of materials and inability to reach clients who are not in Kenya. My expenses monthly are about $60 and from this i make about $110 every month. To advertise and brand myself, I am kindly asking for a loan of $450. Thank You.
I plan to use the loan in the production of business cards and fliers to potential clients and the general public. This will cost me around $70. Additionally, this money will cater for the labor and printing costs that will be associated with the production of cards. I will also use $80 to pay for online advertisements on the various online platforms. this will enable me to reach a wider clientele, not only in my country Kenya but also all around the world. I will also use part of this money to pay for entrance fees for exhibitions where i will be able to showcase my mats to potential clients. $100 will be used to train and acquire more women and girls in the skill of making shaggy mats so that I can be contracting them when it is necessary. I will also teach them basic skills of saving and budgeting so that they can help themselves in future. the remaining $200 will be used to reinvest in the business, buy buying the materials in wholesale prices hence minimizing my operational costs and ensuring i get better profits from my shaggy mats business.
