About Me

I am kiplangat patrick chepkwony a graduate of horticulture from Egerton university.
I have been been consulting small scale farmers for the past two year and wish to scale up the business reach more farmers.

My Business

I earn my income through agricultural consulting services i also own an acre of tea farm in my home village which give me an average of 100,000 kshs a year i also do vegetable farming and poultry keeping.

Loan Proposal

Thanks to Zidisha for there relentless efforts, my plan is to diversify to poultry business as an alternative source of income to the tea business I am currently undertaking. I currently have a revolving cash of about 39000 and if I get zidisha loan it will form part of the capital. I would wish to buy 10 layers at 400ksh and spend 5000ksh on food and another 1000ksh on immunization. I have to construct a poultry house at 5000 since I have other construction materials readily available. The total spending will be approximately 15000ksh. It is projected that this will will yield at least 9 eggs every day, if the eggs are sold at 15 ksh each then it give 135ksh a day and about 945 every week. The remaining balance will remain in the tea business which I belief will yield a profit of 3500-5300.

Lenders it great being part of zidisha family, in the past few months my business has flourished inspite of challenges posed by covid. I have been able to reach out to so many farmers currently am in ghana on a business consulting trip and will be back in kenya towards the end of the month. I have identified that farmers in kenya lack proper knowledge of market of there produce will look forward to rolling out a nation wide market survey through different media platforms that will allow me fetch better prices for the farmers and expand on my financial pool

Zidisha loan has played a key role in my business, I have been doing tea leaves trading where I buy green tea leaves at an average price of between 15ksh to 20ksh, this normally yield a profit margin of between 5-10ksh per kg. Last month 1500 KGS of green tea leaves were bought at a cost of 29000,this was later sold at 41000. When operating expense are deducted the business made a profit of 7000ksh. I have planned to inculcate poultry farming into the business since January in Kenya is not normally a good season for tea farming due to dry spell which limits their availability, but with alternative poultry business I can be generating additional income.

I was able to buy 1000kgs of tea leaves which gives me a profit margin of 10000 every month. I have been in a position to expand the market base and belief in the coming year I will be making over 300000 annually. I have also ventured in flower trade where I buy flowers from small scale farmers and sell to consolidators at the airport for export which gives me a profit of 2ksh per stem.
