About Me

My name is Alice Murugi Macharia. I come from Maombi in Kabazi, Nakuru County where I reside. Kabazi is approximately 25 Km from Nakuru Town on your way to Nyahururu where you aright at Miki Stage and take a murram road towards Miki Primary School then ask for Mama Njoroge home. I am married and a mother of 3 children and am a business lady and a farmer

My Business

I have a pullover knitting machine whereby I knit school pullover and sell them to parents with pupils in nearby school and during market days I sell the same to people even from far areas who come to the market. One pullover have a expenditure of an average Kshs. 400 and I sell it at a cost of an average of Kshs. 550 thus making a profit of on average due to the size of the pullover Kshs 150. In one week am able to knit 20 pullovers thus making a profit of about 3000. This gives a total of 1200 per month. I also sometimes get orders from schools to supply pullovers.

Loan Proposal

Am planning to buy a kneating machine and create a job to an employee who will help me to meet the demand and ease my work especially this season whereby the local do well as it is a harvesting season and the money is in good circulation. With this i will be able to also buy weaving threads to add to the stock in my shop

I spoke to Alice today the 2/4/2014 at around 1.44 pm in regard to her loan .She was very cooperative and as per her statement ,it seems as if her business collapsed after her shop was broken into and it collapsed further after she had an accident with her brother who passed away later,Alice has requested me to let her know her balance and is praying that she could be allowed to pay her loan balance in a small denomination of Ksh 500/= per month which she said she could raise easily.I told her to open her page and comment on that but it is like she doesn't go online,From my understanding . Alice is willing to pay up the loan but doesn't have a stable source of income..I will arrange and visit her to assess her situation if need be.

the first loan you gave me i used it to buy a sewing machine which i used to repair and make new clothes and that is how i was getting my income. unfortunatetly my machine was stolen and left me with no major source of income. currently am working on piece rate kind of jobs which are not available everyday. am working so hard to get back to my financial position. am also very commited to pay all my dues.

    Dear Lenders,

My name is Roberta Zenere and I am a Kenya Country Liason Interns at Zidisha.

I just would like to share with you an update regarding Alice. She informed us by text SMS that her knitting machine was stolen. Of course, this has generated some difficulties with her business, but she is very committed in paying back all the loan.

Sammy Njunguna, her Volunteer Mentor, confirmed this unfortunate event and he is now assisting Alice in devising a new repayment schedule that will allow her to catch-up with the arrears.

Alice, so far you have demonstrated a great committment with your loan repayment, despite all the struggles you confronted with and we now wish you all the best in your life.

Lenders, if you have any questions, please, contact us. You may also contact directly her Volunteer Mentor, Sammy Njuguna, by posting a comment on his loan profile as indicated in the link above.

Thanks for your patience and support.

    Best regards,

    Roberta

    Dear lenders,
My name is Analin Saturria McGregor and I'm a Communications Associate with Zidisha.
Alice got in touch with us again today - her child was released from the hospital just last Thursday. An extended ailment of a family member can sometimes cause a damage on the family's finances that takes time to repair, as more often than not, these extraordinary expenses must be paid up front with whatever funds are available.
Alice has remained well aware of her commitment to lenders during this process, and has updated us with news as they happen. Alice intends to break her payments into smaller installments while she gets back home and resumes her business during her child's recovery time. Thank you for your concern and support for Alice and her family!
