I spoke to Mme Faye on the phone today. Her daughter is healthy, but Mme Faye is very ill. She is now in the religious city of Touba to seek the help of a Marabou (religious leader), where she will spend a few weeks undergoing a treatment. She asks her lenders to give her some time to fix her situation, and hopes to be able to restart her repayments in late September.

My name is Marc Figueras, I'm Zidisha's new Client Relationship Intern here in Senegal. I spoke to Maimouna Faye over the phone today. She told me that she gave birth to her daughter just yesterday. Unfortunately Mme Faye is sick, and she needs a week to recover from yesterday's event. I will be meeting her next week to ascertain her situation.

Madame Faye presents her apologies to lenders for not being able to honor her original engagement. This is due to a serious health condition which has been preventing her from working and has also caused her to incur a great deal of expense for medical treatment. She underwent surgery two weeks ago, and the operation was a success. She is still in the hospital and expects to be discharged in 10 to 15 days. She also expects to receive some funds (100,000 to 200,000 francs CFA or about $250 - $500) within a week or two, which she will use to help repay some of the debts she has incurred.

Elle presente egalement ses excuses à ses bailleurs pour n'avoir pas pu honorer ses engagements initiaux, ce qui est dû à son etat de santé.
