About Me

I am a single mother aged 41 years. I am the sole bread winner of my family. I have an O level education background and a part from this i also possess a diploma in secretariat studies from Graffins College in Kenya. I have been in employment for over fifteen(15) years in three different companies. During this period I experienced numerous problem both financially and socially. This was because the salary was small and could not make me meet the needs of my family and even my own needs. This prompted me to think of starting a small business but still this came with its own economic and social challenges. I therefore opted to join a small micro-finance group which was helping young women and ladies to meet their financial needs by empowering them by giving them small loan at a low and affordable interest rate which they could manage to pay with less hustles. From this small loan I managed to start a small shop where I sell Fast Moving Goods to people living around me. I use the interest from this shop to cater for my family needs and pay school fees for my child.

My Business

i have a small retail shop whereby I stock items like sugar, wheat and maize flour, cooking fat, milk, bread and many other small items. I also stock beauty products like cotex lipstick, hair braids etc. My business is located in Utawala estate. I also stock cereals like beans, maize, rice and green vegetables. Even though I do not have many customers, the few I have enable me to get something. This is mainly because I am cable of stocking almost everything that they are in need of. My customers include women because I stock according to their needs. Also school going children are my customers because they buy snacks from my shop.
I try to sell my items at competitive prices and that way am able to stock more from the daily sales.
i spend about 15,000 Kenya Shillings per month on house rent, school fees, Transport, food and other basic needs.
The risks that my business face include my business is far from the whole sale shop hence making me to spend more on transport and their is also stiff competition from other shops around. The infrastractures in Utawala is also still poor since the road is not all weather and during rainy season it get in accessible.

Loan Proposal

I will add more stock to my business. I will also expand my business by selling food like meat ie I will have a butchery outside my premises. I will also be selling fruits, porridge, milk, and soup. I will assist to pay the hospital bill for my ailing mother. I will also clear school fees for my son. I intend in general to join another industry of food and beverages sales and service. I promise to repay my loan well and have very good returns.
