About Me

I Nelson Yapesa was born in luhya land in kakamega district, Western part of the country. I schooled upto std 8 and did not continue with my education because my parents lacked fee to further my education but I did not give up in life. I left my homeland to go and look for job in town two years back and lucky enough I got one. The salary was low on kshs. 10000 per monthly but I decided to settle down with it and married. The second year, l got a child. My wife was also working in flower farm so we decided to save so that we raise capital to start our own business. I resigned from job and started dairy farming. In the foreign land where the majority are Kikuyu's, I learnt that people should work extremely hard to raise their kids us oppose to our culture where kids are only raised by their mothers. I want my kids to be teachers and excel in life. My hobby is to help wife fetch firewood in forest.

My Business

My cow produce 20 ltrs of milk, which goes at 50 per Ltr, I use 2 ltrs and sell the rest. Making kshs 900 per day, I use kshs 2500 on cows expenses, kshs 6000 family expenses and kshs 2000 I send to mum at home for her upkeep. The rest I save for my business expansion. Milk is demand because of the institutions around and the flower farms around this area.

I chose this business because the cost of production is very low and the profit is high because most of the feeds are locally available and are cheap. Apart from the dairy meal and salt lick that I purchase from the shop. I currently don't pay school fees but soon I will when my child join school.

Loan Proposal

I wish to integrate my dairy farm with bee keeping. My farm is located in a quiet area with limited movement of people and large natural vegetations that is conducive for bee home.

I have so far started constructing few bee hives of about four pieces and I am targeting twenty pieces. Should Zidisha loan me kshs. 40,000, I intend to add more hives and buy wax, plant sun flowers around and fence the area. With the project on. I will be in a position to earn ksh 3000 per hive harvest this will total to kshs 60000 for twenty hives.
