About Me

I am Charles Thoithi, born and raised in Gatondo village, Karatina in the foot of Mt Kenya. I schooled in Gatondo Primary School and later on went for my high school education in Kanjuri High School where I performed well in my KCSE examination by attaining a mean grade of A plain and I am awaiting to start university education soon.
I have sailed through a lot of hardships in my life; like lack of education funds and I had to rely on bursaries and also working during the holidays to raise part of my school fees.
I started chicken rearing as a way of creating more income and also support my parents.
My area is very rich in terms of agricultural produce given that it's on the windward of Mt Kenya.
During my free time, I like reading business articles and also researching on the best agricultural practices. I also find joy in helping the less fortunate in the community.

My Business

I keep chicken (both broilers and layers) for the market around Karatina town and Karatina University.
My venture has been doing well but I experience challenges in that most of the breeds I have do not do well in cold areas which leads to loss of some of the chicken.
My future business plan is to install a heating system in the chicken houses and also buy better breeds.
I am requesting for financial help to expand and modernise my business.
I will be using some of my profits to repay the Zidisha loan.
Thank you.

Loan Proposal

I am planning to use my loan to buy better chicken breed and also install a heating system for the chicks to avoid high mortality rates and hence make higher profits. My long term plan is to expand the whole system so that I can be able to supply more affordable chicken and chicken products and at the same time create employment.
