About Me

My name is Nabolle Henri, I was born in Ouagadougou, Kadiogo, in 1984. I went to school but I couldn't finish it because of lack of means. I have chosen to become a tyre repairman and after that I became a car mechanic. Later I worked as a street vendor and one day there was a friend of my father who introduced me to a Learning Center for Professions and Arts.

My Business

I am an artist, a painter. I make paintings called 'Naive Art'. I try to describe how Africa is so that those who don't know the continent can learn a little more about it. My clients are tourists and all others who don't know Africa. I can paint at least 10 paintings per month and most of the time I can sell half of them. I paint landscapes and daily life in the city. I sell my paintings to tourists who decorate their houses with them.
The expenses for my work are around 35000 or 40000 FCFA per month, taking in account the rent. I can earn around 15000 to 60000 FCFA of benefits on the paintings I sell and even more because it depends on the month and how many I could sell.

Loan Proposal

My greetings to all of you. I will be able to refund the loan that I will get from Zidisha on time. With that loan, I will be able to improve my studio and partner with my friends or associates in pig farming. I could also send my paintings to the Naive Art Festival in France.

    Dear lenders,
Originally Henri Nabolle planned to start repaying his loan on March 25. Due to the problems he explained in the comment below he has chosen to reschedule his loan. His 1st repayment was then due on June 25, but till today his repayment calendar is empty... Although the 2nd loan of Henri was still relatively small I have tried to find solutions for this situation all the time during the past months. I'd like to share these efforts with you and I am still hoping to find a final solution.
Although my meetings with Henri in the past have always been very positive (see comments below about our visit to his pig farm) I've found out that communication has become much more difficult after he took out his second loan. The rescheduling on May 21 was the result of many many phone calls, to Henri, to his community leader, to a friend of his who is also a Zidisha borrower. Sometimes I was able to speak to Henri and then it was clear that he was having troubles (he has been in hospital with a serious problem with his eyes). Sometimes he refused all communication. I was happy when he finally rescheduled his loan and thought this would give him a chance to recover. But once the new repayment date arrived, the communication problems just started all over again. Henri refused to pick up his phone, didn't respond to my messages, and the same was true for the calls of his community leader and his friend. The friend even visited the former workspace (painters workshop) of Henri but nobody seems to have seen or heard him since a long time. All this time I have assured Henri and his contacts that Zidisha was willing to negotiate a solution but that we just wanted to have some information about his situation. The application of Henri dates from before the time that we asked for the numbers of family members and neighbors, so I can't contact any more people. As a last option I have called the former loan officer of Henri today, who promised to try and get in touch with him and to keep me posted. I will keep you posted as soon as I have more news. I just wanted to make sure that you know that we haven't forgotten about Henri and that we're still hopeful to find a solution that suits both Henri and his lenders.
Thank you very much for your understanding,
    Mien

Hello to all of Zidisha's members! As Mien De Grave said, I am very happy for everything that Zidisha has done for me. Turns out that I preferred investing into hog breeding instead of art. Now I am all set up to breed hogs and we are a team of 3 people.

Hi! Henri invited me to visit his pig project and we traveled to Sapone yesterday, together with two of his friends and one new pig! Actually these two friends and Henri have put their funds together to start the project. They already have a dozen pigs in the village now and the one we added yesterday is a special race (male) breeding pig. As soon as the three 'associates' have raised enough money they'll add a female to start breeding their own high quality pigs. A friend living in the village is taking care of the pigs on a daily basis and Henri and/or his friends travel to the village at least every two weeks to follow up and to provide food for the animals (because it is a blend of several products it is hard to find the food in the village or around). I'll add some of the pictures I made yesterday. Enjoy!

    Hi everyone,
I was a little surprised when I read Henri's comment about the small pig farm he started with the help of his Zidisha loan but I talked to him on the phone yesterday evening and he explained that he preferred investing in an extra business rather than in paint and materials as he announced before. This extra business will help him during the periods with less tourism (actually tourism in Burkina Faso is suffering quite heavily from the crisis in Mali). He created the pig farm in the village Sapone, at 35 kilometers of Ouagadougou. If I get the chance to travel to Sapone during the next weeks, I'll make sure to visit his new business and to make some pictures. Thank you for your support, Mien

Hello everyone. Really I was very happy for the loan that you Zidisha provided me with. Thanks to this amount, I was able to start a small pig farm which I named "La Porcotiere." Really I am very happy that I do not know how to explain. Really Godspeed!
