My name is Diana Wangechi Gachanja and am 40 years , a mother of two children. I live in a city called Nairobi, Kenya and been raised there too. I am a first born among my two other siblings a sister an our last born who's my brother. I have gone to schools which are still in Nairobi so my life is centered around Nairobi, a very fast city to live in. After my High school in 1999, I started working in odd jobs all the while while attending college. I finished my college and got formal employment which I stayed in for 3 years. Within those three years I experienced a lot of dissatisfaction with being employed, So in June 2009 I went into self employment. My first trial in business was in skincare and beauty products however I have since diversified into retailing cereals.
My business is about supplying different types of cereals to retail clients as well wholesale shops. Food is normally on high demand and my mode of distribution of the cereals is through my retail shop and through word of mouth from satisfied clients. The business has been running since last year 2020 and the sales are doing great. However, this sales can increase with the help of Zidisha loans as I will use it to buy more stock by increasing my variation of cereals available to my customers as well as expand my space.
The Zidisha loan will help me buy marketing materials for my products. These materials cost USD 40, and then I use USD 60 for advertising my shop. The awareness campaign will really help people know about my recently opened outlet, therefore translating to more sales. I stand a chance to make my business grow at least 20% of the first month of campaigns. My profits could easily translate between USD 300-500 with the help of a Zidisha loan.
