I am Naomi Amase Muruga a resident of Kakoli sub location Okuleu Location, Teso North District, Busia County. I attended Moding primary School and did My O level in St Marys Amukura High School in Western Kenya. Am Married and blessed with five Children of which all of them at the moment have completed their o level Education. I have been practicing poultry farming for the past three years and it has really helped me meets my daily needs. I am someone who is persistent and will always do anything to meet my objective, I am planning to expand my business by adding another house to add more birds so as to meet the rising demand of my products. My products are of high quality and very much affordable and probably that what makes me different from my competitors.
Before I even start writing anything about my business, I would really like to thank the entire Zidisha community for helping a thousand of small scale entrepreneurs across the globe to meets their needs through small scale business and may the almighty God bless you abundantly. I started this poultry business three years ago when my husband retired from the Civil Service. Having a smaller piece of land, my good friend advised me to start poultry business from that available space, after a serious thought I decided to venture into that business (poultry Business). I started with only five hens and 2 cocks. With time, patience and Persistence I managed to break even in few weeks and currently am reaping the fruits of my labor. I have one closet/poultry house where I keep my birds and I would like to buy another chain wire to expand my business to meet the rising demand of my products. My business is strategically located and is adjacent to various government offices and two private schools, and its next to the local market that is managed by the local authority, with these I have an advantage against my competitors and I really pray that our economy improves so that I realize my dreams. I normally get an average gross profit of Ksh 40,000 and my total cost per month on average is Ksh 15,000 and my average is Ksh 25,000. Apart from that I have a stable source of income of Ksh 5,000 from other businesses.
To the Zidisha family, thumbs up for great work you are doing to thousands of people across the globe. My poultry business has been good to me; I have repaid back my loan with ease and am applying for my second loan. My poultry business has been a success story because I have achieved as what I had planned. For the past months I have developed a large loyal customer base because of the quality of the products I offer and above all my affordability speaks loud. Due to my efficiency I have managed even to lower my cost of production from ksh 15,000 to ksh 10,000 per month and at the same time I have managed to increase my profits from an average of Ksh 40,000 to ksh 60,000. Currently through my business I earn an average of Ksh 50,000 per month. Currently I have layers and am planning to add with what I have to buy broilers. So far I have been awarded a tender by another Hotel that is relatively distant to start supplying broilers in a starting may 2014 this year. Therefore I want to buy broiler chicks and keep them. By the time it reaches May I would be in a better position to supply comfortably the broilers. This is only possible if I will get this loan and if we all believe in my capabilities. Apart from this poultry business I have another alternative source of income of Ksh 5,000 per month. Please help me achieve my objectives, Thanks again.
