I am 33 year old, married with two children. I hold a diploma in cooperative management from kabete technical training institute. Lack of employment being a problem and I being a victim I had to find a way to keep myself occupied and earn the income that will sustain me and my family. therefore, I started a second hand property business especially the household property. Having a young family I had a big challenge because I could not wait for formal employment to come to my rescue so after sometime I decided to put my college project on the move.
I have dealing with sofa sets and household tables which I get at a lower price I renovate them and sell them at a high price. Renovation makes the products look new. The products attract a profit of USD 15 per piece and this gives me a profit of about USD 40 a day in a bad day. This income has sustained me and my family but I would like to expand my business to increase my stock and even to venture into making new products. This will help me create employment to two more people because i have already employed 2 who work on repairs and renovations.
The beginning of the business was very slow and it was filled with challenges but this has change as we approach the festive season. the business income has increased and I have seen the need to expand the business so as to cater for the customer demand. Currently due to capital constraints I have not been able to supply the customer requests. Therefore, with Zidisha loan I will be able to increase the capital base and I will handle all the customer requests.
