I come from a very humble family. My parents were farm laborers who could barely put food on the table for their 11 children. As a third born, I started working in the farms at the age of 10 years. I remember I used to pick coffee during rainy seasons to supplement our household income. I usually covered one-third of the school term since I was often sent home for school fees. Luckily, I had this photographic memory that enabled me to easily grasp what was covered in my absence.
God blessed me to join the most prestigious university in Kenya where I studied to master's degree. I ,however, did not secure employment. By the way, my parents passed on before I completed my undergraduate studies. I remember deferring my studies to cater for my younger siblings. I later served as shop attendant where I used my little savings( Kes 9,000 to be precise) to start a fruit vending business. Today, I can only praise God for having opened new business opportunities for me. BUT I LACK CAPITAL
After completing my postgraduate studies(MBA), I could not secure myself a job and I decided to get into business. Capital is, however, a limiting factor to the growth of the business.
Nowadays, I have established my presence in the supplies business. I have been getting LPOs from a reputable paper-processing industry to supply logs of wood. Since a single LPO is as large as 100 to 150 tons of logs, I need enough capital to buy logs of wood and to meet transport costs to the paper industry. The industry pays after between 1 month and 2 months. However, the profit margin is 33.33%. Fortunately, I could make a larger margin if I owned a power saw. This tender is regular and I can assure that if supported, I will break even in a short while.
