About Me

My name is Wilfred Chege, 32 year old living and working in Nairobi Kenya. I have a single brother who is younger than me. I had a typical childhood growing up although between 7 and 11 years of age I did not see much of my dad. This is because he went to pursue further studies abroad. He would however visit on occasion. I grew up with a very strict dad Who wanted me to follow in his footsteps as an engineer. To this end, in High School during the subject selection process, he directed me to select science oriented courses so I could qualify to study engineering in University. However, I was not very strong in the sciences in high school and I thus was not able to study engineering in University. For this reason I was picked up to study Actuarial Science, an intense mathematical course. 2 years in and I realised this was not the course for me so I quit and had a candid discussion with my parents about the way forward. Surprisingly they were agreeable and I proceeded to study Law at a different University which I enjoyed. At the back of my mind however, I always had a passion for interior design. Growing up I would always rearrange our living room and my bedroom, plus I would always suggest to my mum ways to improve the decor of the house. I also liked visiting my friends so I could see HOW their houses had been decorated. Towards the end of my coyrse at University, we had several discussions with a friend of mine who we grew up with and was also passionate about interiors. After I was done with University we decided to try out interior design by offering services to our friends. We pucked and registered a business name and from that point it was full steam ahead and I've never looked back since.

My Business

I run to related businesses in the interior design industry. The first is Azizi Interiors which is a full service interior design firm located in Nairobi Kenya. We combine professional experience with sensitivity to our clients' ideas, needs and preferences to achieve their satisfaction by providing unmatched interior design and space planning solutions for organisations, corporates, small businesses as well as individual clients. We primarily offer:
1. Interior design consultancy: We make site visits to your site location and iffer consultancy services for interior design and decor for residential homes and business premises such as offices, restaurants, hotel and retail store.
2. Interior Construction: We offer interior construction and finishing services from simple decor changes to full renovation works.
3. Project management: Some projects require a certain sequence of installation for maximising results. We coordinate all aspects of these projects to ensure smooth transitions for each phase until project completion.
I also run Azizi Home. Ive been working in the interior design industry for a while and moat of my clients have been similar in a particular regard, they'd like unique decor to make their personal spaces stand out. The only problem has been most if the homes are and decor available locally is ge eric and overpriced. Azizi Home is an online shop that fills this last mile gap in the interior design process and offers cluents unique and affordable decor, lighting and kitchenware.
Costs and revenue for Azizi Interiors vary with the projects, but revenue ranges from Ish 100,000 to Ksh 500,000 with average profits of 25 to 30%.
Running costs for Azizi Home are about Ksh 25,000 (excluding stock purchase) with revenues ranging from Ish 50,000 to Ksh 70,000.
Profits are partly reinvested in the business while the rest is put into investments.

Loan Proposal

The loan will go towards paying of business expenses (printing costs for orders made as well as packaging for ordered products). We have an online shop that sells home decor primarily but also Kitchen utensils and tools as well as bathroom accessories. We get a lot of orders directly via our website and social media, but we also get a good number of orders via Junia, an online platform akin to Amazon. While fulfilling the orders (taking ordered items to the fulfilment centre) several requirements by Jumia lead us to incurr costs in the process. These include packaging the item using packaging that is bought from Jumia in bulk as well as printing of several fulfillment documents per order (some copies remain with myself, some remain with jumia while the rest will go to the customer who has ordered the item. The funds will thus go towards buying additional packaging for the products as well as printing costs for the various orders.
