About Me

My Name is Martin Onyango Siguda, Kenyan citizen by birth. Following the death of my father leaving me at the age of 5years, I grew in the hands of single parenthood which saw me through to my secondary education (High School). In the family of 8, I was the 5th born.
It was immediately after high school that it was difficult to continue with my tertiary education when I started looking for job opportunities in an effort to become self-reliant and even be able to support my other siblings. Through this, I initiated a community based organization with the main focus on environmental management in enhancing social development. This was motivated by the dilapidated status of the environment and the high rate of environmental depletion by increased level of rural-urban migration. Through the CBO activities, partnerships saw me join one of the local Universities to pursue Community Health and Development. Unfortunately this went only to the diploma level and for quite a while now the desire to accomplish my career goal has not been accomplished.
It was also through the partnerships that I got exposed to work with various Civil Society Organizations. My experience in working with the civil society organizations has so far further exposed me to, increasing demand of services which in a greater extent prompted me into becoming an entrepreneur. In the service industry as an entrepreneur, I noticed a lot of opportunities in Design work, printing and supply of stationery. In this regard, I have registered my business and currently I have an operational office where offer the services to our clients. Fortunate/unfortunately enough, considering the short time kind of contracts with the civil society organizations I wasn’t able to accumulate sufficient capital base for the business hence I started with the little I had since I was being driven by the passion of filling the gap which I noticed was widening with the devolution process which is on course in our country. In my business, we are a beneficiary of Zidisha Loan which really so us improve in our service delivery and we strongly believe that the initiated partnership with Zidisha should be built upon and has the potential of taking us to greater heights in business. Much thanks to Zidisha team.

There is great potential in the micro-loan as I have experienced in my first Zidisha loan. As it has always been said, "a journey of 1000miles starts with a single step". This I have confirmed with the micro-loan I secured from Zidisha and I have a strong belief that when I use this perfectly as required, the business can grow to greater heights. Bravo to Zidisha team for the support.

Greater part of the loan this my first loan (Kshs. 4,827) as you all know has been spent in paying the membership fee out of which the balance has been used as top up in purchase of a few materials that i use in printing and design work thus a small variety of special papers for letterheads, business cards and brochures. This has been of great significance to me in boosting the business.

Hi everyone! I hereby take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the entire Zidisha team for granting me the membership and mentorship in becoming part of this entrepreneurial network. My sincere thanks also go to the Zidisha lenders who have now granted me the first loan. This, I see it as a great opportunity for enhancing my network in-terms of knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas in various fields. Despite a low key start with regard to loaning, I look at this network of owning a great potential of empowering the committed entrepreneurs. Thank you once again Zidisha team and i look forward into growing my bussiness with you.

Well, Martin, I am not sure that you will receive what you may expect. This loan application is your first one, right? So you will be charged with the Zidisha lifetime fee.
That means: The 50 US dollars requested here may be around 4900 KES. You will get that? No.
$2.47 is the service fee for the loan. $10.50 is the membership fee. And another $31.49 is charged as deposit for the loan fund. That leaves you with $5.54 what is around 500 KES.
Again: You will get 500 KES. You will have to repay 4900 KES. The benefit you might have later with further loans. But for now the entrance card for Zidisha will just bring liabilities.
