About Me

I was born in Nairobi Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in a family of four kids. We were brought up by our single mother who operated a small kiosk in the slum. Growing up in the slums is always difficult not just because of the poor housing conditions but also due to lack of the basic needs. We most of the times stayed at home after being chased from school due to lack of school fees.
We however managed to clear primary education after being sponsorship by a local church. I however could not manage to clear high school after some of the donor supporting the church pulled out.
I later started assisting my mother in running the food kiosk, my work mostly involved cleaning, serving the customers.
In 2008 my mother helped join a driving school where I cleared after one and a half months.
In June 2009 I got employed in a factory belonging to Nation Media Group to work as a Packager. In 2011 I left employment from NMG and using the savings I had accumulated I managed to open the Movies shop which I operate to today.
This business has really grown other the years and has enabled me to help our family especially catering for the school fees of my two sisters and one brother.

My Business

I operate a movies and series shop in Pipeline, Embakasi. We mostly deal in selling the latest original movie DVDs, series and some TV programs. I also offer printing services in my shop. The entertainment industry in this country has a lot of opportunities that are still unexploited, also the demand for the most current movies and series as well as music is always very high. These are some of the reasons why I decided to start this business and also because I love this kind of entertainment. In the future I plan to have to become a major supplier of the movies and DVDs to various retailers in this location. If all goes well I can also stock various entertainment electronics products in my shop for resell i.e. televisions, sound systems, amplifiers etc. I do also have plans to buy a public address systems for hire purposes to various people. These I am certain will boost my business to greater heights and as well to generate higher profits.

Loan Proposal

I plan to use the loan to finance the expansion of my business, the items I greatly require most are the following; 21 inch Television, sub woofers, printer, extensions and also blank DVD disks. These items will help me provide a good entertainment center for my customers with a good display television and a good sound system thereby increasing the number of customer visiting my shop.
