About Me

My name is Mumbe Mwiwa, born 26 years ago in the eastern side of Kenya. This is a semi-arid area with very poor infrastructure. Facilities like schools are far apart and I had to walk about 5 kilometers to get to school.

I did my primary and later secondary school in the same area and upon clearing my secondary education, I moved to Mombasa city where I joined my cousin who runs a computer bureau business. I started helping her while still learning computer literacy. I later moved to Likoni where I started my own bureau where I am still serving clients.

My Business

I run a computer bureau where my work entails typing documents and artwork design using a computer. I also assist people to access the internet where they do various transactions such as paying government taxes and doing emails.

I do this business in rented premises and that, together with other expenses, amounts to USD 110. This leaves me with about USD 150 and I live on this amount. I hope to expand my business in future so as to increase my income.

Loan Proposal

My business is growing steadily - thanks to Zidisha loans. My next target is acquire a good printer for printing photos. I currently have one old printer which has lost quality with time. It has become a bit expensive to maintain and replacing it with a new one will increase my efficiency.

The printer I have in mind will cost USD 180. I will top up this money with my own savings so as to get the printer. This will increase my photo processing speed since this is a faster version of what I am currently using.

Thanks.
