I was born in suba, mbita division, south nyanza in a family of 9 children. I m the 4th born child in the family. I was lucky to have attained my primary education while at home before I moved to Nakuru to look for casual jobs in Industrial area. I am currently living in Nakuru with my family of three.
As a father I have to vend for my family and meet the basic needs. to achieve that I started my workshop for making wooden items but it didnt do well, then I decided to switch to Ice Vending in Gikomba nakuru market, the business is better than the previous one but due to lack of storage facilities like fridge for overnight storage.
My dreams is to one day become a dealer (wholesaler) for Ice cream, be able to buy direct from the factory and supply to small vendors. I have been in the business close to five years now. Due to extreme poverty in my family I started doing business while in school, I used to sell sugar cane, Fish and small household items to supplement.
Steve Ice, deals in ice cream vending. I have been in the business for close to five years but nothing much to show since my business is small and I depend in it for my daily up keep. I decided to start this business to support my family and create employment for my self. My biggest challenge is storage. I dont have fridge for storing unsold stock leading to losses. My customers come from the business community, households and schools. My goals is to one day become a distributor or wholesaler for ice.
I am proud of my business since it really supports me.
The loan will help me to buy a small fridge for storing my ice. This will help on reducing losses incurred when i dont sale all the stock in a day. The savings will help me to buy more stock and increase my income which will also improve my living standard. I will be able to take my children to school and provide for their basic needs.
