About Me

My name is lucy wanjiru njeri.i have three brothers and one sister.i was born third in my family.i studied at karaba primary school and went st anne lioki high school,I got grade C.my mother was a single mother and always made sure we never lacked the basic needs. To see me through school she relied on bursary and also my elder brother support.i did not have money to go college but I went to a vocational training sponsored by church and learnt catering and cake baking. After this I borrowed shs 800 from my mother who after some few days gave it to me I bought a flask 5 cups tealeaves ,milk and sugar.i cooked tea and took it to aconstruction site I sold it to the workers there and that’s how I started.i began moving around going to construction sites and several offices and shops where the workers who do not want to go out but want the tea deliverd to them especially those working at the petrol stations.i introduced bread and buns and today have included arrow roots and sweetpotatoes and also cook food
In my land we love a food called githeri it is amixture of beans and maize but my favourite is (ngwaci)sweetpotatoes and nduma (arrowroots)we usually just boil them and they are ready.i want my son to have thebest life has to offer and this will only be possible if I am financially able.i love cars I would love to own one someday and I love travelling so much.

My Business

My main business is operating a small cafe which I opened after having cooked from home for so long. With it now my customers have a central placethey can find me and take their meals. I still do the deliveries to customers place of work .i cook food githeri ,ugali and greens.i employ help when the work is too much at shs 200 a day like when there is laying of foundation at a construction site and workers there are so many or public events.when my sister is not at school she helps me out.in a day I make30$-45$thats on an ordinaly day and my expenses include fare to market to get supplies, paying the help rent firewood and charcoal andcity council licences andhealth permits, roughly a profit of10$.some days when there is an event going on my sales really go upand can make a net profit of even 35$.now that I cook food and a place customers can sit I want to work hard and make it a medium sized hotel in the future.i want to buy a blender for I to start selling fresh juice, this will my customers variety between the sodas or the juice .i would also want to increase my stock of sodas. From juice made from fruits bought at 7$ I can make a profit of 5$ and soda aprofit of 2.50$ per day.ialways try to reduce my expenses by buying from wholesale shops or from suppliers who give a discount when you buy like three or six items.i also go for greens at the local market market where it is cheaper.
I use profits to buy myself furniture and a gas stove, tvalso pay rent and assist my mother to pay for my small sister school.once in a while I go to the salon
