About Me

My names are Rita Njeri Nderitu. I am a Kenya citizen living in Kaptembwa in Nakuru county. I am married with two children. My husband is a mechanic . He owns a garage at a centre in Kaptembwa. I am a choir member in my church. I love singing in the church because it blesses my heart a lot. Both our children are still in primary school. They go to Pangani primary school in class three and five. I finished my secondary education in the year 2009. I then joined Rift Valley institute of education in the year 2010 to study Agriculture. I graduated with a diploma in the year 2012.
I have always wanted to be self employed, so in the year 2013, I decided to start a business of raising pigs in order to earn a living. The business of selling pigs appealed to be because of the high demand for pig meet. I started with one pig with the help of my brother . He constructed a pig house for me and gave me money to buy one pregnant saw. The saw later gave birth to 10 piglets after three months.
I started selling the pigs after feeding them for four months. The business is profitable, It has provided me with money that has really helped my family. Out of the sale of pigs, I get money for buying food for my family. I also buy clothes for our children with this money.

My Business

Currently i am involved in small pig farming project to enable feed my children. My dream is all about educating my children to the highest status in life and run a successful pig company for pork production. My grandfather was a successful business man and i learned a lot from his venture.
My business involves rearing of pigs until maturity to sell to both local markets and people who need to keep pigs as source of income. My main customers are pork dealers who slaughter pigs to sell to prospecting customers at their butcheries and other outlets such as eating points and also people interested in pork products such smoky and sausages . I sell mature local breeds between $35 to $45. . The risk I face are diseases which sometimes attack the pigs.
My aim is to expand my business by rearing pigs in large scale in order to meet the high demand that is really huge. The challenge I face right now is luck of finance. I would like to purchase one extra pregnant saw in order to increase the stock of my pigs. The purchase will increase my stock and thus boost production from additional more pigs. The business will produce enough for my market and earn more revenue from increase stock thus increasing profit for me.
My family will be able to access basic needs due to a availability of enough money earned as profit such as food ,shelter and good health .I will able to send healthy family to school.
I humbly request Zidisha microfinance to help me purchase this one extra Saw.
