About Me

My name is Lucy Wambui born and raised in Elburgon, Nakuru County in a family six and I am the second born. I was born in farming community where every family is involved in farming activities. The area is also known for logging activities and there are many timber producers in the region.

When I came of age, my parents took me to primary and later secondary school for my basic education. I later joined a college for a business management course as well as computer applications. I secured a job in the capital city - Nairobi at a supermarket as a field marketer.

I was later posted to Mombasa (in 2005) in the same position and I am still working there. In 2012 I decided to open a hair salon as a way of supplementing my income. I rely on one stylist that I hired to help with the day to day running of the business during the times that I am engaged at my salaried job.

The arrangement works well since I relieve her during my off duty hours and during the weekends.

I am a single mother with two kids aged 10 and 5 years old and both in school.

My Business

I am in the business of hair salon. I do all types of beauty related services such as pedicure, manicure, facial, hair styling, massage etc. My salon is surrounded by many residents who come to my place for beauty services.

I decided to start this business since it was easy to start and I also like it as a hobby. I also realized the beauty services in Mombasa were of very low standard and I decided to make a difference. Most of my revenue goes to covering my overheads such as salary for my worker, rent, and buying the beauty products. I however make a net profit of about $100 per week. I spend this money to support my children and my aging mother back home.

Loan Proposal

This is how I will spend the money from my second loan:

1. Beauty lotions - 1 dozen at a cost of $40
2. Hair pieces - 1 dozen at a cost of $45
3. Miscellaneous items at a cost of $10

If loaned, the money will help in my journey of success and bring me closer to financial independence that I so much desire. The stock will also ensure that that I wont have to waste time going buy the items every time they run out.
