About Me

My names are Dickson Mutashe, I stay in Nairobi Kenya but my rural home is in western Mumias. I am 37 years Old. I am married to one wife and God has blessed us with three kids, 12 years Old, 8 years old and 6 years old. My wife has just been but a house wife until when I started the cyber café where she helps me in running of the business as she is computer literate.
Education wise I Completed my O-level education in the year 1996 at a school called Musanda secondary school. It being rural school and I having been brought up in rural school, I could not even afford to come in Nairobi to change my course so that I could be invited to join university despite having secured nice grade of B-. So I decided to join tertiary college In Kakamega where I completed in the year 2000 after graduating with a diploma in mechanical engineering from current Masinde Muliro University but then WECO.
It’s too unfortunate that since I graduated some 13 years ago, I have never had a chance to practice my profession. This is due to lack of job opportunities in our country. But actually I just realized there is an opportunity in that especially here in Nairobi, as there is very cheap labor idling around.
Since then I have done so many menial jobs, but one thing always struck me wherever I went to work. Everywhere I went to work I would visualize myself being the owner of that business. I have developed passion in doing my own business and that’s what prompted me to register my business name with my wife as a partner even before I knew what exactly I wanted to do in that business.
Capital was and has always been the main challenge, but actually I have come to realize that I have one thousand and one business Ideas as I am out to solve the problem of no jobs in my country.
Initially I tried so many businesses without succeeding; this was due to the fact that mostly I used to do them as part time venture since most of the jobs I used to do were for night shift.
Well I have worked as a night guard for some time and I never enjoyed the job since it was not challenging to me. I later on due to a lot of time during the day after resting decided to try my hands on computers.
Through like of socializing online, I was able to encounter with people making money online. I actually developed more interest and through that I have been able to raise capital to start my own cyber cafe in Kawangware 56 terminus. But I realized that many of this online business are not genuine as many promise heaven but they eventually deliver hell…lol, hence the desire to have my own business.
So generally I would say that that’s me in short. Am very ambitious, hardworking and very focused now to my goal creating jobs to many through starting and running a number of businesses.

My Business

My business is in computers and its services. It is called Sent Me and Supplies Resource Centre (SMSRC). This is a family business; I call it so because its registered owners are Dickson Mutashe and Josephine Namayi Who are wife and husband.
We are in computer packages training, cyber café, computer accessories selling and other computer related services. We have been in operation for the last 8 months now and all we can say that the future is bright. Well sent me and supplies resource centre is out to try and digitalize all that come in contact with it. We have a target of mainly youths who are the majority in the targeted are of Kawangware 56.
Majority of our potential customers are youths and for sure after close study of the area we have great potential in terms of training as indicated by the people who have shown interest by inquiring the training vacancies so far. As far as we are concerned we are the best and strategically placed in terms of getting those (potential customers) since most of the current competitors do not have facilities that you can compare with ours in terms of the machines. We have ensured loyalty from our customers by making sure that our internet is fast enough, our computers are well maintained. We have extra facilities like headphones and webcams which our competitors do not have. In terms of training we have competent full time well trained and professional teacher.
I myself I have vast experience in terms of making money online and this is one venture we are planning to venture into as a training and this will in fact help as more in achieving our goal of creating more jobs to our youths.
We are growing very fast with an intake of 10 average students every month. Looking forward to a very big institution providing tertiary education to the locals of Kawangware slums.
The only Risk I would maybe talk of its in term of security, but I have countered it by having somebody who spends the night at the premise. Also I would talk of power surge problems in terms of blowing my machines since I still don’t have UPS to protect them from frequent power blackouts. But this is the purpose of this loan so that I get The UPS for each machine to protect them from power surge.
So far the money so generated from here has been able to cater for all our bills including paying school fees for our three children. Furthermore we are able to save some little for emergency. So we are very sure with slight improvement of our facilities and more goods to sale in terms of computer accessories like Memory cards, flush disks, DVDs, CDs stationery etc we can generate more money to help a expand into a big business in the country.

Loan Proposal

If funded I plan to buy one generator, to stand by as I have really lost much during the frequent power blackouts which have become so common. I anticipate to spend like 151 dollars on generator. I also plan to get two more computers at 300 dollars. The rest of the amount I will use to do some branding of the center and buying of the utilities like printing papers, Do more advertisement to ensure I push my intake to at least 20 students per month. I will also buy accessories for sale like CDs and DVDs, Memory cards and USBs. So please I kindly request you to consider my loan application. Thank you in advance.
