I am a seventh born child in a family of nine six boys and three girls. I went to township primary school for both my nursery and primary education and in 1996 sat for the Kenya certificate of primary education. In 1997 i joined secondary school in Kakamega high school and sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 2000. In 2002 i joined Utalii College for Diploma course in Hotel management, its during my attachment that i realized that the food industry is a profitable and viable business that can be done in any part on our country. The uniqueness with our people the luhya is that they love feeding healthy and properly and the butchery business has never disappointed i have two children a boy and a girl who give me a reason to hard and ensure they get the best in life. I like traveling with my family and having family picnics.
I buy and slaughter pigs at my small slaughter house and and the sale pork meat in my butchery and the rest is supplied to hotels in town. I slaughter one to three pigs a day depending with the demand from other pork butcheries and hotels i supply. One kilogram of pork costs Ksh.320 ($3.2) at retail price and we buy one pig weighing an average of 70Kgs at Ksh. 12,000 ($120) after slaughtering and selling the meat i make an average gross profit of between Ksh.8000 ($80) to Ksh.10000 ($100) per pig which i use the money in paying meat inspection services, transportation pay wages for my slaughter and butchery staff, and the rest reinvest in buying more pigs.
I would like to purchase 20 piglets of landrace breed, they mature in six month and they are highly resistance to diseases and they grow too big hence attain many kilograms within a short period hence more profitable. One piglet of 3weeks costs Ksh.1000 ($10)
and since i want to purchase 20 the cost will be $200 one landrase pig withing six month will weigh up to 70 kilograms at a cost of Ksh.320 per kilo one pig will be able to give me over $200 *20pigs
