My name is Rabeccah Masinga I am akissi by tribe.my husband is a retired teacher.I have had so many challenges because in my child hood I never went to school I managed to get married and started poultry projects many years ago 30 years I have been doing this is my main hhoby.my children are grown ups .2boys are teachers while my daughter is a business woman .my husband took a loan while he was teaching and helped me begin business my main problem of the culture where I live is they love business we bought land in rift valley dominated by Kikuyu tribe competition in business is very high

My business deals with local poultry I do hatching of chicks I brood them till they become chicken after they are 6months I sell them to my clients in town who sale as meat from local poultry demand for local poultry is higher than grade poultry because the meat is sweeter than the grade poultry I rear them in stages hence I don't have any month that I don't supply one mature hen costs me kes500 which is 5dollrs in a month I sell 7o chicken for meat in wholesale hence I get gross income of Kes 35000 my costs include broilers mash for meat chick mash for the young chicks drugs I don't pay any revenue hence my costs monthly is only 5000kesh which is 50 dollars my total profit is 300dollars per month this helps me to support my sick husband who suffers from diabetes he needs special food and medication the balance I use for food and home development
