I am a mother of seven, staying in malaba town. I have a diploma in guidance and counselling.
To me,challenges are part of the equation that sum up life it self. I face my challenges as thry come and look at the reality on ground as it ig. I therefore pray to God for assistance as i look for ways forward.
When i gave birth to my first born, over 20 years ago, it hit me that i needed a source of income. So i started my own business.
The people of my land are known for farming sugarcane and maize.
I teach my children to work hard in whatever field they are.
I pass time by browsing the internet to be up to date with current affairs and to also connect with family and friends.
I am a farmer of maize and suarcane in large scale.
Maize is seasonal and is of high demand in my home area and allover kenya. Sugar manufacturing companies are always in demand of sugar.
I chose this business because its what i am comfotable at, and the yields are great.
My typical cost $500 there about
Revenue $ 800-$1200
I use my profit to pay for fees for my children and re invest back in to the business.
I need to buy farm appliances for my farm that will cost around 700$ and also purchase manure for my maize and sugarcane plantations.
With manure, maize and sugarcane sprout out well and healthy, thus better returns.
I will also employ a few people to help me at the farm.
This will bring greater margins of more than 50%.
