About Me

I am 38 years old, I was born in a small village in Kiambu County at a dispensary called Igegania. I was the 2nd child of my mother. Later on I got several siblings and I now have 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
I grew up in the same village of Igegania and attended my primary school there for 8 years. Later I went for my high school education at a catholic missionary school called St Francis Mangu where I graduated after 4 years.
I grew up in a somewhat hard life as my mother was the only bread winner since my dad had lost his job in the 1982 coup attempt on the government. My mums meager salary was never enough to sustain the family and most of the time we lacked on basic needs or had to do with very little of what was available.
After high school I got married immediately and got a child but my husband passed on soon after when my child was 3 years old. I was widowed without a job and an education and was left all on my own.
I got a small employment as a sales girl in a clothes shop which helped me sustain my child and myself. Ita a job that I loved and did with passion for a peiod of 5 years. I got a hand in business knowledge and it bred my interest in my current profession. I also got to learn how to deal with people coz of relating with customers on a personal level.
The job also helped me not to wallow in self pity and I was able to kick off mourning so easily and move on with my life. It helped me to put my child to school and was also able to help my extended family.

My Business

I am a salaried employee of Athi River mining company and I am paid my salary every end of the month or early in the subsequent month.

I am an accountant by profession and I hold the accountant executives position in the cement department of the company. I deal with the accounts receivables.

I love my job and I don't see myself trading my profession anytime soon, its a dream come true for me.

I believe that the workplace is my first home since I spend most of my hours there
and thus try to make it more comfortable for myself and my colleagues through good relations.

I took myself through college education, working during the day and schooling part time.
I also do sell wool from merino sheep. I buy from Eldoret, Nyeri, Limuru and basically from the cold regions in our country Kenya. I supply the wool to a company in Nakuru which then exports it.
It’s a business which is not demanding at all since I only work mostly on fone, I am told when its available by the suppliers and I organize for pick up from them and delivery to my customer.

My costs include telephone costs since I have to call alot especially looking for the wool and also the transportation costs.

Mostly I have used the profit in the upkeep of my home, educating my child and also re-investing in the business.
I one day plan to take the business fully and do the exportation myself.

Loan Proposal

I will buy more wool so as to maximize revenue and thus profits. This will in the end help me grow the business to a higher level as I aim for the level when I can fully depend on it.
With the initial 49 dollars that I will receive, I will add 250 kgs of wool which I buy at a cost of 0.196 dollars per kg which I will be able to sell at an extra cost of 0.98 dollars per Kg making a profit of 0.784 per kg and for the 250 kgs the total profit will be 196.08 dollars.

This will create a regular source of income for the people I hire from transport as I will be in a position to be sending them often to pick up.

My previous loan was a good amount though I bought stock and it was destroyed in a fire. However, I am glad that I managed to pay it all despite the challenges. This time I plan to do onions.

    Dear Lenders,

I would like to adjust my loan repayment amount temporarily for about 6 weeks. This is coz our market burned down 3 weeks ago together with out stock and we have not yet finished re-building and re-stocking.
As of next week I will have finished rebuilding and I can re-stock the week after.
I kindly ask for your understanding and patience,

The earlier loan I received helped to increase my stock a little bit and the business was at low peak this first half of the year. But it started to pick begining of may so am positive towards greater sales in the remaining half of the year

Can you get in touch with Zidisha to reduce your payments to a more manageable level? That is better than letting yourself get behind with your payments, which can make it harder to get future loans.
    God bless you,
    Wendy
