My name is Felister Ndinda. I am married with 6 children – 2 sets of twins and 2 other children. I was born in Makueni County in Kenya and went to school and reached class six. My father did not have money so I stopped going to school at an early age and got married. I was later taught to use computer in our church.
My husband is a truck driver and he used to ferry goods to South Sudan until late last year when a war broke out in that country. He has not secured another job as yet and I am the sole bread winner of the family for now. This has made my business very crucial to the upkeep of the family and I am trying all I can to expand it so that it gives more income.
I have done this business for three years and I have no regrets because it brings food on the table. It has also allowed me to meet many people who give me ideas on social life and financial matters.
I sell groundnuts to people who reside in Mombasa town. I normally target school children and office workers. I sell them in small packets of different sizes ranging from 20grams to 100grams. Since I got my first loan with Zidisha, I make about $20 per day leaving me with a net of $10. I use this money to keep the business going and also for our household expenses.
I was introduced to Zidisha by my friend who told me he has benefited a lot from this organization and he thought I could also benefit the way he did. I am very excited about it and I am hoping to be funded soon so that I can start my business expansion. I have always dreamt of running a big business where I would be able to supply my products to big stores like the malls and supermarkets. I believe this is now a reality with the help of Zidisha.
I need a loan to buy 1 sack of groundnuts for roasting and then sell in small packets to my clients. I buy the groundnuts in small amounts like 2 kilogram every day which is expensive and I also have to travel to the market to buy many times which is expensive.
I want to buy one sack which will last me for 2 months without going to the market to buy. I will also buy 20 liters of cooking oil which i use to roast the groundnuts. I will also buy small paper bags for puting the roasted nuts. I will make money when i sell this groundnuts to the people in offices and market. This will make me pay you the loan.
Please give me the money and i will pay you.
